Vila pod Lipami is a heritage-protected building. You’ll find it in peaceful surroundings in the heart of the spa park, close to the tennis courts. The building stands between the Ottovka and Nový jubilejní springs. It was one of the last buildings around the spa square that hadn’t been renovated. The villa was reopened to spa guests on 1st June 2010. The building’s restoration required 15 million crowns. No changes were made to the building’s exterior appearance, as required by heritage conservation authorities. A new layout of the interior spaces was created. Nine double rooms now serve guests. The period interior is completed by original wooden ceiling beams in the rooms and on the ground floor.

The villa originally began as the Slanovodský mill in the first half of the 17th century. In 1883, master builder and spa administrator Václav Pirchan had it rebuilt into its present form. It’s an example of Alpine-style architecture. Between 1902 and 1909, the then spa director MUDr. František Veselý lived here, who together with his wife Marie Calma, turned the villa into the centre of the spa’s social life. Marie Calma met composer Leoš Janáček here. The composer often came to Luhačovice for treatment.

From 1943 to 2005, the villa housed the Museum of Luhačovické Zálesí, which has since been relocated to the Elektra Municipal Cultural Centre building. Building reconstruction began the following year in 2009. The villa, with its rich historical memory, is a cultural monument listed in the Central Register of Immovable Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic and is also part of a collection of buildings nominated for UNESCO World Heritage status.
