According to the legend, a young man and woman once met on the outskirts of Luhačovice. They were in love, but unfortunately came from different social classes and their love was forbidden. The young man was wealthy, the girl was poor, so they decided to run away together. However, when they reached the lake, they encountered a problem – it was too wide to jump across and too deep to swim through.
The young man decided it would be best to jump into the water and try to swim across so he could carry the girl to the other side. The girl feared something would happen to him, but the young man reassured her and told her she could hold onto him. Eventually, they managed to cross the lake and reach the other side.
When they looked back at the lake, they discovered it had miraculously shrunk to the size of a small pond. This supposedly happened thanks to the love and courage of the young couple, who managed to overcome the obstacle and triumph over it.
The Lake of Love became a place where couples in love come to wish for love and happiness. To this day, it’s said that if someone kisses on the shore of the lake, they will stay together forever.
