Kunovice private airport is located near Uherské Hradiště. It is operated by a private company. The airport itself provides facilities for commercial aviation, aerial work, test flights, glider and balloon operations, recreational sports and training flights. Nearby you’ll find aircraft repair shops and the aviation museum of the Moravian Slovak Aeroclub Kunovice. The museum can also become your next stop during your stay in Luhačovice. The distance from Hotel Vincent accommodation is not particularly great. By car, you can reach the designated location within half an hour.

Aviation Museum in Kunovice

The exhibition you’ll find here documents aviation history and aircraft production, which still plays a significant role in eastern Moravia today. Production is concentrated right here in Kunovice. As early as the mid-1930s, an aircraft factory was established here. During the Second World War, the plant served to repair aircraft, and after the war, sports cars were even manufactured here. The airport is therefore inextricably linked with aviation. For aviation enthusiasts and aircraft lovers, the production of the most famous and successful aircraft that were manufactured or designed directly in Kunovice is particularly important. These include, for example, the L-13 Blaník glider, the L-200 Morava motor aircraft, the L-410 Turbolet transport aircraft, and the large L-610 transport aircraft.

After paying the admission fee, you can look inside the aircraft, listen to radio communication between crews and Kunovice airport tower, and soak up the aviation atmosphere. Here you can view legendary air taxis, sports, transport, and military aircraft. The displayed helicopter and unmanned aircraft will certainly catch your interest. Also fascinating are the engine cross-section, tow target, radar, and armaments from the Czechoslovak People’s Army period. You’ll find several genuine unique aircraft and prototypes here. An aircraft with an interesting history is the ex-government special Tupolev TU-154M “Nagano Express”, which in 1998 brought the famous Olympic ice hockey team from Japanese Nagano to Prague.

In the entrance building, you’ll find spaces for small exhibitions that cannot be displayed outdoors. The covered exhibition features the Aero L-39 ZA Albatros fighter aircraft, the legendary trainer and film star Zlín Z-126 Trenér II OK-IFG, the Sojka III TVM unmanned aircraft, and a cross-section of the Ivchenko AI-25 TL engine. At the end, there’s a pleasant little souvenir shop. Visitors who visit the museum help with its development and construction. Costs are not covered by grants or the state budget, but from admission fees and souvenir sales. Would you like to take a flight in an aircraft? Scenic flights can be purchased at the Moravian Slovak Aeroclub.
