The Envicentrum for the Landscape can be found in Vysoké Pole, where it is located on the outskirts of the village. This educational centre for children and adults brings the Wallachian countryside closer to people and takes them back to the past. Visitors can experience the everyday and modest life of former farmers. Don’t expect just one cottage. You’ll be surprised by a collection of buildings that demonstrate both visually and practically how Wallachian farmers used to live. The local animals help to bring this to life. There’s a barn full of hay, stables with horses and donkeys, enclosures with sheep and goats, and rabbit hutches and chicken coops.
The main aim is to captivate visitors through the completely ordinary experiences that were part of this way of life. A genuine historical drying house, over a hundred years old, helps to illustrate village life. There’s a cellar used for storing and processing fruit, or an old picník adapted for educational programmes focused on traditions and crafts. If you’re not sure what the word picník means, you need to delve into the Wallachian dialect. The word picník refers to a shed where fodder was once stored. Fodder is feed for domestic animals, particularly cattle.
The site is suitable not only for children from primary and secondary schools but also for families with children of all ages. The public learns about life in Wallachia through educational programmes, specialist excursions, lectures and craft courses, and agricultural product processing. The main aim is to show what the Wallachian landscape offers and to pass on the knowledge and experience of our ancestors.
If you use all of the Envicentrum’s offerings during your day trip, head out into the surrounding area, which will surprise you with kilometres of marked cycle routes and footpaths ideal for hiking. The Six Villages Circuit is a collection of main tourist routes that will take you to the most beautiful places in the heart of the Ploština microregion. You can also take advantage of a horse-drawn carriage pulled by a pair of horses.
